Frog. Better post a resume. By that I don't mean kills. I mean, what hunting have you done? What skill sets do you have? Age. How fit are you? Experience in pack hunting? Off trail? Navigation? Do you have the requisite gear?
A high hunt partner is evaluated with more scrutiny than a spouse. That's only kinda kidding. Even if you check all the right boxes for someone there, no one wants to take an unknown quantity to "their" spot as you'll find tons of threads about newbies screwing up a good thing by running their cake hole to others or not honoring that the place they've been taken is only to be returned to IF invited by the partner.
Bar is a little lower on general season. You'll only need a blood sample, credit report, 8 references and a signed contract under penalty of death for that. Again, only kinda kidding.

LOVE IT!!! Good point and well taken. A little about me;
age 33, been hunting for 4 years now. First year, scored a black bear. Second year, scored a small deer. After that it was a 2 x 2, then last year another 2x2.
Military experience , (excellent with land nav) and NCAA all american a few years back. This is why I got such a late start. Wish I could have grown up hunting, but sports paid my way to college.
Just got back from Alpine. 16 miles in one day. 2600ft - 6500ft. I run a few days a week. I follow the rules, and protocol. If someone was kind enough to let me join, then certainly would be grateful. You asked about gear....... now the shortfall. I did the high hunt last year. Got completely drenched. My "waterproof" gear of course failed a few days into the hunt. Had to spend half a day drying all the gear out over a small campfire. IT SURE WAS FUN! LOL So, since, new pants, gators , gear. The next big thing is tent. Think I am leaving the 5lb tent behind in place of a tarp lean-to. Ideas?
*assuming I find someone to play with.......

I would say that is a pretty damn good resume especially when it come to being physically fit lol. Way beyond me. Good luck finding a partner. I don't do the high hunt or modern firearm. Let me know if you get into Archery or muzzleloader.

I would say yes but already have plans made for a 3 day 2 night trip into the Paysayten. Going with the absolute bare essentials. 1 change of clothes, 6 meals (MRE's), 3 knives, hatchet, extra bullets, 2 canteens and a military mess kit, NO sleeping bag, No tent but am taking an 8 X 10 tarp all going in a small back pack. I drink creek/river water so will refill when I come across water and no I don't filter it going 12 to 16 miles in. Tomorrow 9/9 I turn 65 and have recently been diagnosed with a form of leukemia so I am no spring rooster but figure I can still do this year so might as well do it this year might not be here to do it next year
