Went out to the Teanaway today. Really pounded the bushes for this one. Gorgeous fall day. Only grouse I saw all day.

My eastern trip we saw grouse everywhere. On a 2 hour jaunt through the woods my hunting partner and I jumped at least 18 different birds and my brother jumped around 30 in his area.because everyone else was deer hunting I waited until the thumbs up from my hunting partner and shot two. This is one I shot. The other was a large blue.

Most of this ones tail looked straight black except for the center couple feathers like a blue and the belly looked like a blue but the back  was definitely ruffed. The head looked a bit different to.  Think it had a cross breed going on. Lots of blues and ruffed in the same area.

Nice big grouse!!! Can I ask you where you saw those birds ,I'm trying to go grouse hunting too,so that would be great if you can tell the place where you hunted those birds

I wish I could help but it was on a piece of private land that no more access can be given to.  Was in the northeast corner though.
