This is a good example of why it is wise to have three to six months living expenses saved up IN CASH. Even if you are a tenured federal employee with so called job security.

I don't think it will happen, but somewhere down the road sooner rather than later the printing presses will have to slow down.  Then you will see things get real interesting in this country.  It has become very apparent that the government does not have the will to slow down it's out of control spending, which will be their undoing.

The government will shut down. The Republicans will be blamed.

The government will reopen. The Democrats will get the credit.

ObamaCare will be implemented. Everyone will suffer.

The Mariners will lose. Again and again.

We are living in a time when basic logic seems to be turned upon its head.
This is a good example of why it is wise to have three to six months living expenses saved up IN CASH. Even if you are a tenured federal employee with so called job security.

In time of turmoil being as debt free as possible is the ONLY way to survive and prosper.

What i want to know is WHY do some of you think the Republicans problem is the GOV is shut down?
The perception or the reality?  The news media is generating the perception--that being Sen Cruz and a few of his buddies (all happen to be R) are willing to shut down the entire gov with no chance of compromise in their hopes to invalidate Obamacare.  Almost all coverage of the issue includes one with the other.  Even if not the whole story, the two getting linked enough will be what stands out in peoples' minds later on.

I really wouldn't put it past the FS to dig tank traps on their roads or hang big chains across with a sign saying 'Forest Closed'.  The shutdown that happened 20 years ago the LEOs were around, but all the staff at the ranger stations were on 'vacation'.

I am saddened that many people do not seem to realize this is NOT a R Vs D argument. It is a basic law of economics. Just like the law of gravity it can only be altered under temporary circumstances and has a COST. What bothers me the most is in a state, Here in WA, that was once a blue collar democratic common sense state. It has been Hijacked by may democrats, and even republicans that are only doing what is politically expedient.

Do any of you realize how many laws those in DC are exempt from? Let me give you one example. If you are guilty of sexual harassment you can lose EVERYTHING you own. If you KNOW about sexual harassment as a boss, your company can lose massive $$$ and you can personally be held responsible. It is the only "infraction" that pierces the corporate protection veil. Now i'm not talking about calling some woman "honey" Or looking longingly at a attractive woman. I'm talking about groping, or requesting sexual favors. Did you know our congressmen are EXEMPT from this law?

The Gaps are widening between the "ruling class" and everyone else, and until we hold THEM to the same standard we are held to then they  should have no authority over us  and should be sent packing  because they deem themselves special. REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT!

They can eliminate 2/3 of all gubmint programs and agencies and we would never notice.  We NEED to eliminate 2/3 of all gubmint agencies and programs! The private sector job market would explode and the economy would grow by leaps and bounds.

This just came through my email:

You're receiving this message because you expressed an interest in hunting on one or more of our refuges this year.  We are sending this message in an effort to avoid you wasting a trip, only to be disappointed and angry that your hunting spot is closed.

Due to the federal government shutdown, all access to the refuges is closed, which closes hunting and all other activities on the refuges.  This is includes:

Cold Springs National Wildlife Refuge
Columbia National Wildlife Refuge
Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Hanford Reach National Monument
McKay Creek National Wildlife Refuge
McNary National Wildlife Refuge
Toppenish National Wildlife Refuge
Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge

We are sending you this message as a worst-case scenario.  Hopefully, the federal government shutdown will be over before your planned hunting trip.  We are doing our best to serve the public leading into this shutdown, and we hope this message will save you from a wasting time and money.

WATERFOWL AND UPLAND GAME BIRD LOTTERY WINNERS, PLEASE NOTE THIS:  If we receive funding on the Friday before a hunting weekend, we will be open for hunting on the next day, Saturday (e.g., funding on October 11, we will open on the 12th).  However, if we receive funding on the Saturday, we will not be able to open until the following week (e.g., funding on October 12, we will open on the 16th).  We would very much like to open that Sunday, but we have no way to get everything in place to open with Saturday funding.  And please use common sense; if we get funding at 11:00 p.m. on the 11th of October, obviously, there is no way to open on the 12th.  We will try to get a message on the Hunter Hotlines about opening, 509-546-8325 (546-TEAL) and 541-922-4868 (922-HUNT).

What people are missing and should be asking.   What in the world is the Federal government doing owning all this land and when did it get this big and out of control?

Oh well, let the games play out.  We'll get nothing and the yellow Republicans will cave.

How do you get people to fight for freedom when they are like rats born in a cage...  they don't even know they are no longer free.

What I don't understand is why they have to shutdown access to the refuges?  It's not like we need federal employees there to allow people to enter...........  :dunno:
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
