This morning The Skybuster and I went bear/grouse hunting. We started the morning off with a brisk 2 mile hike and did a 300 yard stalk on a covey of ruffled grouse. Well there was a lot more than we anticipated and as we got close to the ones we saw the world around us exploded. I couldn't even get a beed there were so many at first and then finally I was able to drop one before they all got out of range. What a rush

I have never done a stalk than long on open ground before but it sure was fun and nerve racking at the same time. Walked a few more miles and nothing so we packed it up and headed to the next gated road. After a mere 3 mile hike

We came across a stripped up grouse, either it was a cat or a bird of prey from what I could tell. The guts and meet were gone from the bird and it was squeaky clean on the inside. I assume a cats tongue icked it clean? A few yards past that there was movemtn in the road, it was a big ol coyote! He started to trot away and I barked him to a halt, the skybuster took the shot and dropped that song dog like a bad habit. It was a text book team work kill and really wish one of us had a go pro

That dog didnt move a inch after the shot and had a bowling ball sized hole from its shoulder to neck. A 270 shooting 145 grain bullets sure does the trick

All in all a good day with a good friend
