kids need help filling big bull tags in 352 or 356
« on: October 29, 2008, 10:20:00 PM »
I work with a guy who just spent a week trying to get his 12 and 14 year old boys on to bulls they could shoot with their any bull tags. They only saw 2 bulls and weren't able to get shots at them. They were hunting in the nile creek and clover springs area. If anyone was in those gmu's this past week and knows where the elk are hiding please let me know and I will pass it on. They had to come home on Sunday so they wouldn't miss another week of school but they are heading back over on Friday to hopefully get something. They are not road hunters and it would be a great experience for these young guys to have some luck. Thanks

Try Johnson Canyon down in the Nile off of the 1603.  There were a lot of bulls in there a few weeks ago, and not many people go down in there.

Tell them to slow down, I saw their tracks EVERYWHERE. (If they were camped just this way of Saddlecamp)

They hunted from the 20th-26th and have been home for 5 days back at school I don't know exactly what area they were covering other than what I mentioned in the first post. They hunted early to late and covered around 5-8 miles according to their gps so thats  not terribly fast paced. Their dad is a seasoned elk man and wouldn't just run around aimlessly in the woods. They weren't seeing a whole lot of sign in the area they were in and hoping someone had seen more in another area. They are pretty familiar with both of the units they have tags for.
