Montana ideas?

Any one know of any good areas to hunt in Montana for elk and big mulies?  I have tags and am heading that way every weekend till I get one!!!

Go east for muleys and stay west for elk. There are many areas out west where you can harvest a cow, not a bad option if you can't find a bull, and they taste real good.

I got a cow tag for the 270 unit and a muley tag for the 250 unit...heading to MT tomorrow for 2 weeks...hope I can bag some meat...although a nice rack is always appreciated too...

My buddy just called and he'll be here in 40 mins,  then it's on our way to Darby, MT for two weeks of elk and deer.  I'll post pics when I return....some of them may even have animals in them...

I highly reccomend the Missouri River Breaks for Muley....It is a permit area for Elk though, so no help there, although there are some monster elk in there too......20-30 miles out of Roy of Highway 191, get off the highway a good 20-30 miles so outstanding Muley country.

Hey rick, its jeremy from fishing 2 years ago. dad and I just got back from lima montana. dad got a elk. its to warm still Im going back around superior  in a week or 2 for the weekend hopefully the weather will be colder and maybe a little snow on the ground. congrats on the nice bull.

270 unit can be a good elk unit if you get a ton of snow and get way off the road but even if you don't get one you can still look at all the nice muley bucks, best deer unit in the state see about 10 a day like the one in this pic

I was there last year, but I have family that lives in Stevensville so I hear sorta whats goin on over there.  My great uncle owns a meat processing shop there so he sees a lot of stuff come in.

I grew up in Libby Mt (northwest corner) and still hunt there when i can draw a tag. There are lots of mule deer whitetail and elk in this part of the state. For Mule deer I'd hit the Fisher River area (Cody creek or Richards Creek) For elk head to Canyon Creek or anywhere in The Cabinet Mountain Wilderness area. Good luck to you you should do very well.

anywhere around Whitefish. The muley might be harder around there, but big elk #'s in that area. Haskel Basin near Big mountain ski resort has good bulls but a lot of hunters
