Best Public Land Unit for Youth Antlerless?
«
on:

My son is super excited to go hunting next year. I don't know much about the youth antlerless tags but I hear the GMUs are mainly private property. I'll probably only get one or two scouting trips next year so I want to look at some public land where he can fill his tag. Which antlerless unit has the most amount of public land and a large whitetail population? Thanks for your help in advance.

................and a lot of timber land too. Many thousands of acres to hunt on.

Thanks. Looks like I'd better plan a spring camping/scouting trip.

A lot of the private landowners will let you hunt, especially if you are taking a kid. You would have no trouble finding private ground to hunt around Pullman (142) if you spend a weekend knocking on doors.

if you plan to hunt 101, follow Jasons advice. I didn't have time to scout this year in 101 and myself and my GF had no luck. My son got his doe on opening season for youth, but I think those doe were drunk or something. We were just walking and happened to notice them after they noticed us. They didn't seem to care we were around. They kept eating and every once in a while they would glance at us. Even after he killed the bigger of the three, the other two just looked up and then continued eating..
