Skokomish boat launches
« on: November 21, 2013, 09:36:27 AM »
I'm thinking about floating the Skok.  Does anyone know what the options are for launching and retrieving a drift boat?  I know the launch by 101, but not sure what launches are above that.

You have to go up the valley to were the river meets the road and put in there. Its aways till you can fish below. Takeout is off Purdy creek road. Next to the building there in one of the parking lots. Cant miss it.

Can you be more specific about where to put in?  What road is it off (there are two going up the valley, right?).  I'm not overly familiar with the Skok.  I typically avoid it like the plague but thought it might be OK in a drifter.

Its worse in a drifter! People will be glaring, casting, showing there guns ect at you.
Have you checked the regs? Not sure you can even fish until you get in the hatchery zone and below.
Heard a boat came into the takeout launch to take out and a guy opened his coat and had a gun, murmered something and drug his knuckles away. Lol

The put in is on West Skokomish valley road. about 4 or so miles up. The river comes right to the road were you put in. Cant miss it.
There is only one main road up the valley. It starts right at the hatchery and 101.
There are other roads that tie into it but W Skok Valley is the main road you want.

I was hoping to fish above 101.  I will have to look at the regs.  I have no interest in fishing the combat zone.  Thanks for the info.

Most of the fish are only going as far as the hatchery...

fishing above the 101 for salmon isnt allowed. Anything upstream of the 101 bridge is catch and release with selective gear only.
