Should I??

So i was out in the Fall River unit last week deer hunting and scouting for elk.. So i come across a herd of elk crossing the road, and i go back there on the opening day of elk.  Nothing  :bash:.  As I am leaving i catch them heading into a clear cut.  Just at dark.  No shot.. So now i got half their pattern down.   Talked to a buddy theres a 6x6 in the herd.  He missed when he took his shot.  Do you think they are in the area still or should i look somewhere else.  I plan on hitting the woods hard tomorrow.  Should i start where i have seen this herd?  Would his shooting ruin it for me? :dunno:

They may be there but with a few days head start they could be in another county. That said, I would start where I last saw elk if I did not know where they were.

:yeah: Sometimes I think to much when I'm hunting. I would deffiantly do the same, if I don't know where they are.    Good luck

Go right in too that timber nice And slow where u seen them last....if they were not pushed they could stay there for weeks....I've seen a herd stay in an area 500sq yards for several weeks...if they are not there get on the freshest sign and start tracking

If they get to running and especially after being shot at that might be the last you see of them in that county

Man these elk are driving me crazy... I have done everything, walked the roads all through the place, been in the timber, drove around the back and came in that way, cow called, bugled...  :bash: :bash: :bash:  So close but so far away!!!
