Anybody go clamming yesterday?
« on: December 01, 2013, 08:52:57 AM »
Suzyque and I went to Grayland. Not my favoriye spot. But wanted a quick trip. Tons of clams. Some really nice sized ones. Planned on digging 2 hours before low tide. but was closer to 2 1/2 hours and the clams were already showing like crazy. Saw some people that were obviously new to the clamming thing. Showed them a bunch of holes. How to use their gun etc. They ended up having a blast. I did too. Kinda like hunting. I get as excited seeing others have success as I do when I am succesful. Even with just messing around and helping others we were off the beach by 3. Could have been done in 10 or 15 minutes.

Saw a few people fishing for perch. Talked to a gal that said she got one. That was pretty cool.

Wind was blowing hard. With a mist. But it wasnt too cold. So not bad. It was pretty cool watching the dry sand on the upper hard pack blow over the beach. Almost made me seasick as I was backing up to park.

I clammed yesterday with my wife a three daughters at long beach.  The clams were showing really good.  My oldest daughter dug here whole limit without any help from me.  She's 11 years old.  It took us about 45 minutes to get our clams.

We went to moclips yesterday.. Windy, sideways rain, and 5 limits in 45 minutes..... :IBCOOL:  They were showing really well ....  We were off the beach before all the other clammers were out of their cars.  I like to be digging 2.5 hrs before the tide.
