Havalon Baracuda knife for Beaver.
« on: December 06, 2013, 09:09:48 PM »
just finished clean skinning a large beaver with my Havalon Baracuda skinning blade knife. Pretty impressive first try.  Was able to clean skin very close around the problem areas like between the shoulders and above he tail. also real slick for skinning the meat strip along he back. Also went back as I was skinning and actually fleshed some of the spots that still had fat etc? I would not recommend that you try it unless you have skinned quite a few beaver with a regular knife first... used one blade and I could feel that it was losing its edge toward the end although you can sharpen them easily....used a regular knife in a few spots that I felt more comfortable....Darryl

i have the smaller havalon and so far it has worked great. i have not tried sharping it but with one blade i did the opening cuts on around 150 rats and rough skinned 2 beaver. i did change the blade now however i might try resparening it and put it back in.

Yes I've used my small one for awhile and it wasn't good for clean skinning for me too short so was easy to knick the hide..  the big blade on the barracuda made the difference.  Great knives but scary sharp DD
