Connecticut residents waited in long lines on Thursday to register their firearms and high-capacity magazines before the state’s new gun laws go into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.

WFSB-TV reports that a “long-line of people” stood outside the Public Safety Building in Middletown, Conn., all day to register semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines. Several residents were upset with the “unconstitutional” requirement, while at least one person didn’t appear to mind.

Screengrab via WFSB-TV

“I understand why they’re doing it, but I don’t think it’s constitutional,” resident Scott Boccio told WFSB-TV as he was registering his guns.

Charles Gillette, who was registering magazines, told the news station that he would have a problem with it if the state was trying to ban the magazines or firearms, but said “if they want to just know where they are, that’s fine with me.”

However, not one gun owner who was registering firearms or magazines said they think the new laws will reduce gun violence.

“If people are going to do things illegally, they’re not going to be here registering their gun,” Jared Krajewski, another resident registering firearms, said.

For now, in Connecticut, the law is the law. The new gun control measures were put into place following the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

State police Lt. Paul Vance said that gun owners must fill our forms completely and some may require a notary.

Its not useless to control freaks or criminals. Mass murdering political figures have used similar laws throughout history. Confiscation comes after registration.

Not seeing how this helps control freaks and criminals as I'm sure they are not the ones standing in line for the voluntary registration.

This is the Great American Democrap way to total control. First registration then confication, Look at the Gun Confication in New Orleans durring the hurricane on You-Tube. They had a list of gun owners and went knocking door to door taking their guns away. Durring times like that is when you need your gun for personal protection. This democrap run government is stepping what out of bounds. We have the biggest piece of *censored* president the world has ever seen. A big liar and thief, a big disgrace to the working class American citizen. He must have some Hitler DNA in his gene pool.
If it was up to that POS he'd conficate your kids squirt guns.

It is just not gonna do a darn bit of good to stop violence.  Like said above, crooks are not gonna be in that line, and its a shame good people will be turned into crooks if that are not there to register. :(

They are not doing to control the freaks and criminals, they are doing it to control the American people!  They want us to rely on them for everything so they have TOTAL!  Health care, protection, money, food....the list goes on and on.  Our Prez is a f%&$ing joke!

Its proof that freedom loving Americans need to fight to protect thier freedoms, and when the cause it lost VOTE with thier $ and feet. States that belive in thier soverin rights and activly protect those rights will need to be reinfoced with others who belive the same. I'm Happy i don't live on the E coast, but if i did, I'd sell my place and Move in a heart beat.

Some good news on this I read that only about 30k registered their magazines still millions didn't so good news for them.
How Did ‘Millions’ of High Capacity Magazines Disappear in Connecticut?

January 28, 2014 | Filed under 2nd Amendment,Constitutional Issues,corruption,Culture,Culture Of Corruption,Democrats,Gun control,Liberals | Posted by Warner Todd Huston

As the State of Connecticut went through the process of gearing up to push more gun bans and bans on high capacity ammunition magazines, it was estimated that The Constitution State had at least “2.4 million” of the offending magazines within its borders. But now, after the new forced registration law set in, only about 38,000 high capacity magazines were registered. So, where did they all go?

It seems that Connecticut’s set up for future gun confiscation is failing despite that officials are trying to claim that it is a great success.

Back in 2011 as legislators were mulling over new anti-Second Amendment proposals, the state’s Office of Legislative Research looked into several questions being asked by lawmakers eager to fashion a new gun ban. Lawmakers needed to know how many so-called assault weapons were in the state, how many high capacity magazines were manufactured and how many held in private hands, how many crimes were committed by people using these things, and the like.

One of the findings made by the OLR was that gun owners in the state owned at the very least 2.4 million high capacity magazines–and likely many hundreds of thousands if not millions more.

Now that Connecticut has finally passed its new gun and high capacity magazine registration law, the numbers of new registrations are coming in and it appears that with the stroke of a pen, Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy made millions of high capacity magazines magically disappear.

The final numbers are not yet in but the numbers that are known are fairly complete, if not exact. Thus far, it appears that only some 38,290 high capacity ammunition magazines have been registered.

38,000 is a far cry from the millions of high capacity magazines that the state estimated existed within its borders.

So, where did these millions of magazines go?

All that can be said is that it appears that gun owners in Connecticut are not quite the sheep that jackbooted government officials may have imagined they were. After all, if there really were millions of high capacity magazines in the state–and it is very likely that there are–and they have now gone unregistered, that means that thousands of gun owners have refused to bow to this un-constitutional, anti-Second Amendment law.

Despite that the state is trying to paint a happy face on the grim edifice of this anti-American law, it appears that millions of Connecticut gun owners have thus far simply refused to abide by this law.

Of course, it goes without saying that this law is just the first step to gun confiscation in Connecticut. Everywhere such wide-ranging registration laws have been instituted, gun confiscation has followed.

So, good on the many Connecticuters who have refused to follow this un-American, anti-Constitutional law.

The 38k mags that were registered were loaded mags. Everyone knows that once a mag is emptied it gets thrown in the trash. So now there are millions of empty useless mags filling Ct's valuable landfill space. Sheesh!
