Where did you conk that buck?  I see what appears to be a developed hiking trail in the background of that top image.

Also: Rifle, Model, ammunition, bullet weight, distance of shot.... details, details, details!!! Oh, and where's your hunter orange? Always a good idea to have that in the image.

I sure hope you sent a photo over to Northwest Sportsman magazine.

    

Not  giving all details...Browning .270, couple miles in 3500 ft,40 yd shot. No orange for pictures. Rained like hell the day before, didn't see any bucks but saw some dandy rubs. My buddy convinced me to go back up the next morning and by luck it turned out to be a beautiful day. The Wind was swirling from all directions that day which I think disguised my position. About 920 am I heard a blow and then watched this bruiser crash through the timber chasing a doe from right to left facing uphill about 60 yds.  Thought to myself I'll probably never see that animal again. Then for whatever reason the doe changed direction and brought the buck back towards me. Doe passed and then then as soon as the buck got in sight I blew at him and he stopped dead in his tracks behind a tree He took 2 more  fatal steps out and I shot him. He didn't flinch or nothing. The way he continued to walk like a zombie had me thinking I'd missed. Found him a 100 yds or so away.

Couple of stud bucks there!  Put a tape to them both and see who has bragging rights at the camp fire. (I think gramps might)
 
 
Nah... On second look, yours has more mass and maybe length. His has more spread though.   I haven't seen a true Blacktail that big in a long time.  Very well done...

There is a huge diff. between the coastal and cascadt BT's. That pic does it for me, that is one hell of a cascade BT.

One hell of a buck and congratulations on keeping the family tradition going! Hopefully you can keep that kind of luck going. Did you happen to have your buck scored this year at the sportsman show in Portland? I saw a buck there that looked a lot like yours that was also killed this year.

Did you have him scored? Gotta love the big boys going dumb over tail, it has nailed me a few a couple bucks in the past.

I have not got him scored yet. Won't have it back til July... I would though like to get it scored and if anyone has a contact  please let me know.  I also have the lower jaw and would like to figure out the age.
