Deer numbers are down in 101 but that's nothing new.  I don't spend much time in 121.

Antler restrictions in 121 made it a tough go for those who didn't have access to private ground or knew the area well.  Hunting pressure was fairly light and I didn't see many bucks in the back of trucks. Tough area unless you know it quite well.

Not sure if it's a bad year but I'm use to seeing more deer than what I have been, mule deer especially :dunno:

Honestly, the hunting in the Kettle Falls area is only worth that kind of a drive if you know it really well and you wont get to know it really well without scouting or making a good friend.  That probably wont happen without reciprocating in some way   :twocents:

If you want to get a good start to hunting these areas, I'd encourage you to do some searches on here and then spend some 3-day weekends in areas you've "internet scouted".  If you haven't spent time over there, it's probably not what you're thinking.

Which deer hunters ????? The ones who live here or the travelers ????

Well, for those who come all the way over here without scouting, then sight in in camp, race around on quads, get drunk, hoot, holler, and honk all night........then do nothing but run roads pretending to hunt, while throwing out beer cans and all their other garbage,  ( even found 3 craps and wipe ON THE ROAD ).........those folks had a poor success rate.

Other than that, it was a good season again.

:yeah:  pretty well sums it up.

At least the gas stations in Colville, Kettle Falls, and Barney's Junction enjoy modern firearm season   :chuckle:  that new Tribal Trails place is probably excited for next October   8)

People have every right to act the way they do up there during hunting season (minus the littering, illegal off-roading, illegal firewood cutting, illegal fires, speeding, drunk-driving, and poaching) but it sure can get frustrating.  Which is why I switched to archery  at least it's quieter then.

Wrong answer there. We are overrun by whitetails. PM the people that live here and don't ask people who don't. Seems like the westsiders know more than the locals, typical...

The deer were EXTREMELY skiddish last fall in our hunting area in 101. We also found some big cat tracks close by which all makes sense. We had some good bucks on our camera, so they were around. I'm thinking maybe if we would have spent more time there we might have had a chance at getting something. It was very evident the deer were on red alert at all times more than I've ever seen in the past. No wolf tracks though  :) ...yet

We have a lot of whitetail deer here. The numbers are increasing even though the WDFW doesn't seem to be accurate as per their reporting scenarios. PM me and I'll tell you what the sightings are around Curlew.

Having spent many seasons in a tree stand in 101, you are describing how the deer act whenever a cat camps out in the immediate area.  Hyper alert all the time, hard to get a shot, wont stand still, head going all the time......jumpy. jumpy.......

I wish more guys would take advantage of cat and bear hunting in the n.e. part of the state.........now thats how you find your deer spot ahead of time !!!!  Bag some grouse too.
