Well, I have seen that happen 2 times on my buddies boat. 2 rods just seem to jump off the deck and leap into the water when the boat is at a high rate of speed......tried to catch it but I was just hanging onto the grab bars. Both spinning rods, and one had less than a dozen casts on it.

That move has cost me two over the years I don't know what happened with this one? I can only imagine the tip got into the water somehow and caught enough resistance that it just quietly cantilevered over the edge and sank silently into the abyss? Oh well, life goes on....nothing a trip to the local Cabelas couldn't fix ($240 later). If I didn't need it for this weekend I would have ordered it from someone else as I am burned out on Cabelas and their crap selection I actually have not been down there in a long time. Bought some reels from Limit Out, and although they do not have a huge selection, what they do have is nice stuff.
