I bet they are trying to get more people to buy it instead just applying, not getting drawn for a special permit and then not buying the darn thing.

Hey Josh,

Yeah, I didn't really expect them to lower the elk Multi price.  With all the peaole that draw a multi-deer tag and don't buy one, I'm sure tehy decided to lower this price to entice more buyers.  No issues selling the multi-elk.  But, maybe now that the seasons and tags are defined, they can get the drawing done soon for all multi tags.

That price change really isn't enough to change my actions.  If I had time to really hunt a lot, I'd buy it either way.  Without enough time to use it like I would like, the drop isn't enough to make me buy it knowing I won't get as much use out of it as I'd like.

I'm still glad they lowered it.  I usually don't even apply for multi-deer.  Never needed it, as I usually fill my archery tag.  But, this year is different for me.  My wife's cancer is raising it's ugly head (again) and I don't yet know when or if I will be able to go.  So, I'll be buying it if drawn for more options.

I think we should not buy it again this year if drawn and see if they will drop it another $40 next year.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife.  The biggest benefit to the tag really is the additional options and time afield it affords.  I bought it once and had a blast hunting all three seasons.  In the end, I didn't kill a bigger buck than I could have in any of the three seasons but it was still well worth it.

Add one more to the list of people who will never buy a multi tag here. Just add up, even the discounted prices of a deer tag plus the multi tag and you are at least half way to an out of state tag where you can still hunt all three weapons and probably have a better hunt.  :twocents: Only incentive, IMHO, is the chance to put in for different weapon permits.

 :yeah:

Prime example of govt bureaucratic failure. They really don't understand their customers. 60% increase in the number of tags and they couldn't even get enough people to put in for them. I'd pay the 187.50 if they included a transport tag for each weapon. It's still too much for one deer and when I'm drawn I won't be picking it up. Elk yes.

It's too bad youth hunters don't get a cost break on the multi tag price. Makes it spendy on a guy for the kids to play too.

I will actually buy the multi deer now.  That's a substantial decrease.  Even if drawn for elk the two wouldn't be to bad on the wallet and you more likely than not would have some meat to show after a long hunting season.

Not to hunt both deer and elk for all seasons.  And yes I'll buy a pass to one of the tree farms too, just to deer hunt.

to deprive the state of $139.10, because i know they're counting on it. If this was for a second tag i'd probably spring for it, but just to hunt dif seasons; no! I get a tag with my original lic. How'd they come up with 139.10 anyway?

Considering they didn't sell out of applications, you didn't really deprive them of $139.  Instead you gave them $7.

Probably not.  Anyone who puts in should be buying the permit/permits if that's the goal.  Why apply if you won't purchase them?  Did you put in for both phool?  I'm not wealthy by any means.  But I do take my hunting serious and it cost what it cost.  I'll pay way more than that to hunt out of state.  So why not for a longer than regular season here.  And let's be serious I'm not getting drawn for multi elk for another 3-4 years I only have 3 points.

If your paying seven to potentially take away 139 from the state and that's your goal we'll have at it.

I'm just going by the pevious posts shared by others, seems the popular opinion is its too expensive.

Yes I apply for both, last year I drew both and purchased neither. ;)

Last year I got drawn for the multi season elk, paid the $180, and had a great long season of hunting. Since I live for the elk season all year anway it's worth every penny to me. I'll do it again next time I get drawn too. If you don't want the tag then don't apply, your $180 isn't going to break the WDFW, or be noticed in their budget, but it will keep someone who appreciates elk hunting from being able to enjoy a long season.  Please keep sending the $7 for the deer tag though, it pays for a coffee break at the WDFW office.
And I think God must be a cowboy at heart

He made grass and trees and mountains and a horse to be a friend
And trails to lead ol' cowboys home again
