Elk out.
« on: April 17, 2014, 07:41:21 AM »
Been seeing elk every morning heading to work this last 2 weeks.  Also talked to the wild life biologist here at work at he saw 3 bulls up in the woods.  He said one was a 3x3 the other he said looked like a 5x5 in velvet.  Can't wait now for bow season.

the other he said looked like a 5x5 in velvet.

Velvet that big already  :yike:  :dunno: I saw/heard a helicopter buzzing around above upper Greenwater(west fork white river) yesterday afternoon where I live, kept around the area for 20+ minutes... figured they could be counting elk? Heard anything about that?

:yeah: there are probably a few still running with hard antlers

He could have seen a cactus bull or something but I doubt he saw a 5x5 in velvet already.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

A WA state biologist would say it's a 5x5 in velvet  :bash: idiots.

A couple weekends ago on the peninsula I saw probably 6 or 7 branch bulls.  About half hadn't dropped and half were in velvet.

Every Bull up in Kapowsin I've seen in the last two weeks has nothing more than 10" fuzzy spikes on him!  Maybe he meant 5"x5"...Wouldn't surprise me!

I surely don't work for the state.  His is a fellow hunter like us all so I would hope he knows what he is looking at.
