might try J.D. Berry in Medical Lake  509-299-3029.  Been making longbows for 30 years.  Do a search for his website.

Thanks I'll check with them in the near future, main reason I'm looking there was a few guys that drove all the way to Alaska from Idaho to hunt the haul road for Caribou.  One of the guys that was there makes custom take down long bows.  Man - they were incredible, beautiful looking and felt so right when he let me hang on to it.  Been thinking of getting out of the coumpound all together for something like this.  Did you switch completely or still hang onto the compound for range?

I have it as a back up in case soemthing goes wrong on my trip.  It is so fun to shoot the trad bow.  Not to mention its light compared to that space shuttle. Its also gorgeous.  Nothiing like getting your hands on a nice piece of wood.  Then the accomplishment of shooting something with it is pretty satysfying too.  I hoping for that big NM bull.  I got a decent deer last year a very happy with my DIY moose.   It helps that I am a big guy, but I have it at 85 pounds at 31 inch.  It is sooooooofast.  I never figured a stickbow could perform so well.  Its a whole ball of wax different to shoot though.  No standing there at full draw.....and be prepared to go through a few arrows untul you get the nack.

Boneaddict...I checked out that site you posted for Saphire bows but a little confused. I saw the base price was $450 and then there was a bunch of other additions or something. Just wondering what you chose for your bow and what it ended up costing you?

Well made the order today for a custom Take Down, so excited now....  The Caribou won't be safe anymore, well maybe.....  The guy I'm going with is Reed Stewart from Idaho, Ivory Hunter Custom.  I got to look and hold one, incredible bows, can't wait to tranform into the tradiional style, heck might do it 100% and have real fun for now on.

Next questions for you guys,

1.  Who and where do you get custom arrows from here locally?

2.  Any one make custom traditional quivers that I can give some Moose or Caribou hide for the exterior?

3.  What type broad heads are you shooting with this step up?

4.  What else am I missing to get started?

5.  Last one, doesn't deal with Archery but looking for someone that makes hats out of fur, want beaver lined Black Bear hat, don't know why, just do.  I have all the hides and rugs, just haven't a clue on the Betsy Ross stuff........  Thanks  Mike
