« on: April 10, 2014, 03:07:25 PM »
If any of you are interested in a high-quality Shiras moose hunt, give us some consideration. Have one rut hunt opening available this October. $5500 plus 'government' fees. Great hunt with calling, still-hunting along the edge of the moose meadows and some spot-and-stalk. 100% success over last few years. Bulls to 40+ inches. Beautiful weather and only about 5 hours drive from Seattle area so very convenient to take home your tasty moose meat!

Looks like a cool opportunity.

Also what requirements to get the meat back across the boarder?
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

I have never heard of my clients having any trouble taking meat back across the Border. As long as you have meat with you and your licence and tag on hand, no problem. A lot of guys just take the carcass home in the back of their truck, but most get cut and wrapped here and take home frozen in coolers.

Every time we brought moose back from B.C. the border guys just wanted to see how big the rack was and bs..we never had any problems bringing meat back, just have all your paperwork from the guide and your licenses and tag.

so you don't have to pay extra just because you're brining in meat?

We brought our meat back to the U.S. in quarters without incident and no fees.

Only trouble I have had was crossing at Sumas.  I was warned before I crossed there, but I ignored the warning since it was a simple crossing when I've been up fishing in Chilliwak.  Not sure if the Game check people there hate hunters or are just incompetent or both.  Luckily one of the guys who warned me gave me a card with the local senior gamie's cell number.  I called him at the first sign of trouble and he was there within moments and set them straight dang quick.  Still took me more than an hour to cross!

Oroville and Kingsgate crossing went super smooth and quick.  Gave them my paperwork showed them the animals and they said, "Yep, looks like one of those to me.  Have a nice day!"  Even when a guide forgot to give me the proper forms before I left the Kingsgate crossing game check got me fixed and taken care of in about ten minutes.

You will pay a fee to register your rifles on your way up.  I think it was 20 dollars or something close to that.  But I've never had a fee coming back across into the states.  I think I did have to pay a fee to get my paperwork and horns plugged and sealed in NWT before boarding the plane to Edmonton.  Wasn't much though.  It hurt worse to watch them drill holes in my sheep horns :o
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

We can do as a rifle or a bow hunt - whichever the client is into. We do lots of calling in October, so if you are an archer, this is the time where we will have highest odds of success. No extra fee for taking meat back across the border.
