It's very simple. I use a setup with a green shad dart as a dropper and a red one above it.

If you are plunking, use a 3 ft dropper  to yor weight off a 3 way swivel, tie a 1 ft leader to a dick nite or shad dart off the swivel as well. If ya want , add a swivel 2 ft above that for a second lure.
                                              or
Slide 2 beads up yor mainline, add a barrel swivel, then 2 beads under that, repeat for second lure. Tie on a barrel swivel and add a 3ft dropper to yor weight. Adjust the swivels to the height of your lure and peg the beads with a toothpik.

If you are drifting for them, slide a 1" chunk of 1/4 hollow core lead up yor line, next a bead, tie on a barrel swivel. Tie a 18" to 2' leader to a shad dart or dicknite.

Is there enough of them, to make the four hour drive worth it? Never done it before but it looks like fun. What is the limit on them?

There is no limit.
Wait 2 weeks to come down if you are going to Bonneville. The numbers aren't there yet.
Plan on being there at first light, to get a better spot.
Pm me if you are coming down, maybe we can fish it together.

With a bass boat, I would fish the Columbia off of Washougal.
Down by the mouth of the Washougal or up toward Reed Island. Very friendly waters. Not so much up at the dam.
You could even drift from Reed down to the Washougal for walleye.

I don't know if I'll make it down but would like to have some shad for bait.  If anyone is passing through Olympia with a cooler full I'd be happy to take some off your hands.  Perhaps trade a few elk steaks/roast and a bit of home-grown lean ground beef (I ate all the steaks!)?

I'd like to get my hands on some as well. Always think I will head down and catch some myself but I never do. I can trade you some tuna if you're interested.

If it's easier, he can just drop them off with me and I'll give some to you.  That will save him from driving around.  How many do you think you want?

I'd take some off your hands.  Maybe some venison jerky in trade?  Good reason to go down to Cabelas.

I'll separate out the smaller ones for halibut bait for ya.

I will let ya know.

Maybe we will all meet at Cabelas.

Went down there today... Yikes there is a lot of people.

I figured out the color to use and some options.  I also straightened out a few hooks by putting a little too much pressure on them.

I am ready for a few weeks out to go down there again.
