Got to the hunting area yesterday before daylight. Wanted to glass for moose a day before it opened.
Got up there and spotted a few cows and small bulls. Then the one ive been watching came out. We watched him for 1.5 hours till he went in the brush.

Then off to the campground we went to set up camp. Got all of our gear set up in a couple hours. After that we went for firewood amd to check a few areas for open gates.  back to camp we went.

Here we go with more sideways pics...  :chuckle:  :bash:
anyways. After we rested at camp a bit my cousin wanted to go up to where i missed the mule deer last week. So at 3 we left camp. Got up there and glassed up a couple moose (small bull) and continued on. We were headed back down the mountain when he spotted a couple does down 100 yards in a rock slide below us. We watched and he spotted a buck in the brush so i got behind my gun rested over a pack and on the buck. He was blocked by a lot of brush so i waited. He disappeared for  a minute or so then poked out of the brush exposing his neck and head. I lined the 375 up right under his ear and touched off. Deer flipped over with stiff legs in the air! Bonus buck down! We ran down there and dressed the buck qnd drug it up the rock slide and out hoping to make it to the "moose cut" before dark to watch for the bull. We made it to the cut and saw the cow amd young bull my bull was with but he stayed hidden. No worries though because afternoons havent produced hardly any sightings.
Headed back to camp after dark to hang and skin the buck. The stove in my tent last nigut was a new experience! I filled the tent with smoke numerous times amd never really got the fire going... went to bed cold.

Finally a right pic!
Woke up bright and early this am with high hopes. Got the fire going well at 445 and dried out the concldensation in the tent amd warmed us up. Had breakfast and waited for huntnnw to get there. He showed up and we loaded up to head to the moose cut. Followed a few rigs up amd i was very nervous they were moose hunters.
Got to the cut in the dark amd couldnt see 30 feet! Fog!
Parked where we watched the bull from yesterday and waited.... and waited... around 8 the fog cleared and we saw no moose.
Went and checked another spot and came back after 15 minutes and spotted moose half mile down the cut from where we were watching. Saw a cow amd small bull first. Then saw my bull. Told my cousin and shane "theres our boy!"
Got all set up with a good rest for the 260 yard steep downhill shot. Shame got the vid cam up and i started shooting!
First shot shane called a clean miss...  :sry: i reloaded amd shot again... shane called a gut shot... i was frazzled by now! The bull turned straight at us. No shot. I waited and asked shane if i should try a spine shot. Shane said "youll hit a paddle!"
Just then he turned down hill and i hit him in the neck. (Gun seems to shoot left... maybe me... maybe the gun. Need to confirm) third shot absolutely tanks this bull and he nosedives!!! BULL DOWN!!!

Got down to the bull and took a few pics. Then got to work.
Had the bull to the truck in 4 hours. The three of us made 1 trip. Shane and i got the pieces to a skidder row while erick went amd got the game cart. We each loaded a pack of meat and the cart had cape/head and both front quarters. Headed out. It was almost a mile on the skidder road to the truck. Once we had it out we went back to camp amd broke down the 2 weeks worth of gear at camp after only 1 day.  :IBCOOL: and headed for home! Thanks a ton huntnnw! Couldnt have done it without you.

Sweet. Bonus trip with the buck. That Bull has some character. My phone didn't ring for the pack out, looks like you had it handled pretty well. Well done

thanks a ton for the offer but there was zero cell service where we were. Would have been a 45 min drive to service. We should still meet up sometime!

Congratulations Chris! That's one heck of a bull. So... the .375 was "enough gun" it appears. Wow... Good job.

And with Shane tagging along... Cool. I'll bet you guys had a blast.

Regards, Guy
