I shot over twenty rounds at the range with my NW Optima. No hang fires and just used the nipple pick one time toward the end of shooting.
Also CVA states the breach plug is designed for loose powder. I shot both 777 loose and pyrodex pellets w/o any troubles. I would swab the barrel after every 2-3 shots. Hope this helps.

I don't know a lot about an optima but if you are using 209 primers I would get a drill bit, your flash channel can clog up with carbon.  When I first got my accura V2 I shot it a lot also before I found out I needed a drill bit to chase the flash channel occasionally while I shot my gun (about every 3 to 6 shots).  I ended up having to use a smaller drill bit than I needed with a electric drill to drill out the carbon, finally I could get a 1/8" drill bit down it and clean it out properly.  The BH 209 replacement breech plug takes a 1/8" drill bit, I think the OEM Breech plug takes a .116 or something like that, not sure.   Here is what I use and it is handy    http://www.plugcleaner.com/images/EEZY-BREECH-UsersGuide.pdf

north west guns use musket nipples, not 209 primers.

I think for shock value a muzzy might win her heart though.  Don't get me wrong she got a rock.  It's just a girl can never have enough guns.    :chuckle:

I have an Accura NW on order. Should be a week and a half before I get it. Lots of pictures and video comin guys.

One thing I learned, the Nipple is built into the breech plug and I guess is not removable? I will figure this all out once it arrives.

 Too true... I just bought a new scope for my next gun.. when I figure out exactly what that is.  :chuckle:
The TC has proven to be a really great gun for me... my mom, dad, ex, and his brother all purchased Knight MK85's off of gunbroker with really great success and really amazing prices, but it seems once they started production again the prices went back up. Hope your selection treats you as well as ours have. :)

I'm sure I'll be looking into the knights soon.  Seems like the common theme.  I got this as a starter gun for my son for passing his hunters ed class.  We will be chasing Roosevelt with it on opening morning, his b day.      Got it in the mail yesterday.  Now to get out maybe today.  Thanks for all the suggestions and help finding a muzzy.

Have you decided on a bullet yet?

Barnes Spit-fire TMZ or T-EZs have worked well in both the Knights and my TC. For elk, we all have used the 290 grain with great success.  :dunno:

The TMZs load just fine for my TC, but we've found reloading after a shot or two in the Knights, the T-EZs were much preferred.

(tried to find my post-elk bullet photo but couldn't...)

I got some powerbelt copper aerotip 245 grains to mess around with. They seemed to fly straight.  I like the gun all together.  My son was kind of jerking the trigger after a few rounds.  May need to get him a pad for it.  How small of a charge can I pack for him?  I'll have to check out the bullets you mentioned thanks for the info.
