Interesting business idea! I've been eyeing the Razor's myself, might be worth it to try them out for a week in the field before buying. Any penalty for damage to the optics when returned? Smart to go with Vortex optics, that way you don't have to foot the bill for any repairs since the warranty will fix/replace them for free!

I wonder if the Vortex warranty will still be valid in this case?

You should offer Nikon and Swarovski too, that way people can compare. :twocents:

Would love to offer swaros, but it's very hard to become an authorized dealer for them as we've found out. We're hoping to offer them in the future along with other lines of optic.

My only advice would be to offer more than just the high country tripod for your spotter rentals. It can barely handle a 65mm,  and the 80mm I'd way too big for that little guy. :twocents:

Something were considering and hoping to do in the future, were trying to decide which other tripods to carry and an additional rental price. By fall we should have that squared away.

Yes, they will honor it.

We've decided to lower some of our prices and extend our rental period after receiving some feedback from you guys! We're also offering a 10% discount for customers willing to write a short testimonial of their experience after their rental. Let me know if I can help anyone out.
Thanks,
Jon

Deerslayer,

What is your stock on hand like?  I want to set up a couple of rentals for a spotting scope and binos for my muzzy hunt  and keep them through an Oregon Deer hunt - so, Oct 1-15.  How soon do I need to notify you and set this up?

Thanks,
Brian

The sooner the better Brian, we'd really prefer a 2-3 week heads up but, we'll try and make what ever work. We're starting to take quite a few orders but none for your time frame just yet. What products were you thinking? Some have been much higher demand than others. We've been getting quite a few requests for the razor 50mm spotter so we decided to pick one up and its booked for most of Sept.
Let me know how I can help you out! We're sending out free Vortex hats with orders placed before November 1st too.

Thanks,
Jon

We're currently looking for suggestions on upgrading our tripod (Vortex High Country)
What would you guys suggest? We're looking for something fairly light but will still support our 65 and 85mm scopes. One that we've been considering is the Slik 624 but are open to other options as well!
Let me know what you think, we value your feed back.
Thanks,
Jon

I want to take a minute and tell you other huntwa members my first hand experience in renting from BeartoothOutfitting.com.

First you should know that I am a 25 year bow hunter.  I do fairly well in the woods and have my share of quality equipment.  I guess I am one of those guys that figures I need every advantage possible so I try and upgrade my equipment when possible.   :chuckle: :chuckle:   That said, this year I drew a White River muzzy Elk tag as well as an Oregon Hepner deer tag.   :yike: :yike:   :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:  Both of these hunts were a first for me and I was "All in" from the get go.

One thing I had always wanted to do was to upgrade my glass, and I figured this was the perfect time to do so. Unfortunately, my bank account did not agree with me that this was the right time  :bash: :bash:  I was looking for a good deer in OR, AND the White River was going to mean a lot of time behind the glass to find the bull of my dreams.  ... but the good news was, right about that same time I saw this ad from Beartoothoutfitting.com !  I ended up renting a Vortex  spotting scope and binos for a 2 week period to cover both hunts.  I absolutely loved both units   , but this review is not about the quality optics - it is about the amazing Customer Service!  Let me tell you first hand that these guys truly care about taking care of their Customers!     They contacted me on several occasions to assure me that my order would arrive on time (there was a UPS issue - but these guys were all over it!!)  and that if UPS dropped the ball, they would absolutely ensure I had the glass I needed before the hunt.  :yike:   Fortunately UPS did show up on time (in fact early)  and the product was as described.  I hope to be able to afford these optics in the near future, and when I can - there is no doubt I will be buying from Beartooth!  Not only did my shipment arrive early, packaged well and in great condition, I had both owners contact info and their response time with any of my questions was immediate.  TWO THUMBS UP

What a great business idea, and a great way for those of you who have ever wondered. "Is QUALITY glass really worth it?", to try it out.  I am so glad I did and I am sure if you are in the same boat, you will too!

Jon and Dustin - THANK YOU!   I am sure I will be in contact in the future!
Brian C.

While i'm not as eloquent as brianmtsinc, i want to also share my experience.   My wife drew an Arizona Elk tag to hunt with some of her family.  this was our first out of state hunt.  in talking with her brother and dad, we realized that we really needed a quality spotting scope.  I'd been thinking that I'd have to shell out the big money in order to have something to use.  And then it would be a crapshoot as to what scope to get and what size.  But then along came Jon/Dustin and this rental business.  As I read his initial description i was a little skeptical but then was "why not give it a try".  I emailed him letting him know our plans and that we had to have the scope delivered before a certain date as we were driving down.  He certainly delivered just when he said he would.  the scope arrived several days prior to our departure date and we were able to use it for next two weeks of the trip.  In coming home, we were delayed a bit due to weather and when i was able to contact Dustin to let him know i would be late in sending the scope back.  He quickly got back to me letting me know that he understood and it was no problem.
This was my first experience with a quality scope and i now understand a bit more just what i've been missing.
Thank you for starting this business and i will certainly recommend it to anyone.  I'm now planning on buying my own scope and will certainly be buying it from Jon and Dustin.
