Puget Sound Role Call
« on: July 14, 2014, 02:43:18 PM »
Who's getting pumped for the North Sound opener? Not sure if I'll be out for Wednesday but I'll definitely be out before the weekend and likely Sat/Sun too! I'll either be at Jeff Head or Possession. Good luck out there! Tight lines!

I just noticed that they reduced the Chinook limit to 1 fish this year.   :bash:

I read that too. I think it is because the quota has been getting burned up so fast on Possession the last couple seasons. Instead of an emergency closure early they want to keep the season going a little longer.

This is great news for us South Sound fishers!
We have always just got one. Once they opened 9 and 10 again after years, our fishing went way south.

It actually has been decent down here since the June 1 opener. And hopefully will stay that way.

And likely had to do with the smaller quota this year (I think that's what I read).

Hoping to get some fish in the sound this year, it's been a while. Gotta get my girlfriend on one too. Let's hope it's a good year for kings and coho

South sound gets to fish Chinook from June 1 – Dec 31 and they begrudge a North sound 2 fish limit for our short season?  Something’s wrong with that logic.

Like there are abundent adult Chinook after the first week in August. June can be spotty to none. Late July is the best, just like up there. Thats what we look forward too all year.

Dont believe we have good adult Kings June thru Dec. Besides July and part of Aug. The South sound is a spotty, not worth it fishery.

It's never been a 1 fish Chinook limit down in Area 11 and it isn't this year either, at least I don't remember it being one when I was young fishing down there when they had Area 9 and 10 closed for years.  I'm sure this will get people gripping about it for next year too, to make all of those areas a 1 fish Chinook limit if they're going to do it to 9 and 10.

But I won't be able to get over there to fish Jeff Head until the weekend of the 25th.  Anyone know how the resident Coho fishing has been there?

What a knuckle head I am. I have interpreted it wrong for how long? Lol I always thought (combined) meant 1 of each specie, up to 2 fish.
All those days we fled thinking we were limited.  :bash:

I will be hitting Pt No Pt this afternoon for the tide change. Last year we killed them out there.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
