44 inches is about as big as I've seen. Rarely are they over 40.

55 inches has been the biggest.  A couple in the 49-52 inch range.  Most way smaller.   All the big ones came from the Methow.

All the big ones came from the Methow.

You went and had to say that didn't you! :yike:

A couple years ago, on Friday morning before the modern opener, we were setting up camp between Bear and Pearygin creeks. This guy drives up in a blue pickup, on his tailgate was a rattle snake that was ginormous! Well I couldn't tell you really if it was "big" or not, I have only seen three in 25 years of hunting modern up there  :dunno:.
Anyway he tells us that he just killed it on the road just down from our camp.  :o

I swear, for the next seven days, every time I heard rattle of brush or a stupid grasshopper take off my heart would skip a beat.
Thanks Bone, now I will be wanting to shoot every stick I catch in my peripheral vision.

54" for me.    Like Bone, a few in the 48-50" range.   Most buttons is 16.

I've probably killed a few hundred snakes over the years, so I think those 48" plus are pretty rare?

yup, Chewack, balky,  but always had the most fun cleaning dens yearly below the Gunn ranch. Backcountry horsemans ride through Pipestone has produced some baseball bat sized snakes too. Duanes appraisal almost threw him hard riding aver one if them! Good times!
