Live Flyers
« on: August 04, 2014, 09:14:48 AM »
Hey, I just bought 3 live ducks for training my lab and was wondering where I could shoot live flyers. I live in Vancouver, Wa and have gone down to Shilapoo to do some work on the water with bumpers. I was wondering if they allow live flyers to be shot there, or do I have to go to a private club/ Trainer that has a permit for that? I tried looking into the regs, but couldn't find anything about that. Maybe I looked in the wrong place. Thanks for your help in advance.

If you got them from a licensed game farm they should be marked.  Either with a leg band or a toe clip. (the left outside toe is cut off when they are little).  You should also have a WDFW receipt from the game farm.  Bird dog training season started Aug 1, so you should be OK on public property.

If you didn't do that.  :yike:  You can set yourself up for a big fine, and you better stay on private property.
Hunt hard and shoot straight!

Thanks for the response. I called the SW Washington office for WDFW and they said the same thing. I have to order a band from Olympia since the person who I bought it from did not do any of the things that you mentioned. I bought them off of CL from a crunchy granola type of person. i didn't tell her what I was using them for  :chuckle:
Thanks again for the answer.

They probably don't know it, but the crunch granola person could end up with a big fine as well.
Always get a recipt for any game animal and make sure they are toe clipped.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.
