Sad Day. I grew up hunting that area. Haven't hunted deer/elk up there for quite a few years, but still spend a lot of time in the area. Im not surprised that there are wolves there. In fact, I already kind of assumed it.

Reports of wolves in that area are nothing new.

How can wolves be moving into all these new areas when we only had an increase of 1 individual animal in the past year? Do you think that the WDFW isn't being honest with the number of wolves populating the state, or did they just run out of food where they were residing?

Wolves move and relocate. That's a fact. Pups are born, new packs form, they're territorial and they move to form new packs. It's what they do. I don't know if WDFW is being dishonest or if they just simply don't know. By don't know, maybe I mean their "confirmed" wolf count is off for sure....but I think they have to confirm packs before they count them it seems. If it's not a confirmed pack, it's not an official wolf so to speak?

Wolves have been in Liberty for a long time.  I knew they were there either just prior too or just after the lookout pack being declared.    I've seen them several times from Redtop to Wilson.   Heck a couple have even met with untimely deaths on 97.  Two in the last year that I am aware of.

The biggest controversy for me was seeing seven of them running together one with a red collar.   That collar had to get there somehow, and what was keeping them from declaring that pack.   Again, that was years ago.   Since that time wolves have filled the Teanaway, and they started seeing them over by Wenatchee, I presume from this pack spreading.

Wasn't it last year or maybe the year before the wolf was killed by a car on 97 around the 173 or 174 mile marker?  My gold claim lies between those MM's
