Fishing Sekui
« on: August 14, 2014, 09:35:22 PM »
I never fished Sekui and was thinking about trying it. Any advice on fishing, moorage, and RV spaces would be help full. I've got enough boat and have fished Neah Bay for years. Thanks in advance.

The main launch is at Olsens Resort and they have camp spots also. Van ripers has a small launch and campsites at lodging also and they are a little nicer. I have a storage business over in Clallam Bay and talked to a guy today who has been fishing there all summer and says its slower than normal and not many hatchery fish being caught so they have to go back. That is what I have heard from many guys who store their boats with me. If I had the choice I would go to Neah Bay and be prepared to fish 300-400 feet deep. Myself I'm going to Westport this year for my fill the freezer trip. Good luck nwhunter

If you want kings then go to neah bay as sekiu just closed yesterday. The coho are thick up at sekiu though. We just got back today. Yesterday for the last day of kings all we could get were undersized kings and wild coho. Caught probably 2 dozen fish and only one keeper coho. Today we got 4 coho in the box, slower than yesterday but got the hatchery fish. We primarily fish slip point out in 500 foot of water for coho. We stayed at olsens this time because they were the only ones that would let us stay one night but prefer straightside resort. You can moorage your boat with whatever place you end up staying at on their dock.

At Neah Bay you can keep lots of bottom fish after you limit on salmon. I have fished both and Neah Bay is better. The salmon have to go past Neah Bay before they go past Sekiu.

Thanks for the help, as much as I'd like to fish this year, I'm going to pass. I've got some health problems that would make it hard to get over there.
