why?
« on: August 16, 2014, 10:21:49 AM »
Just found this on a hike this morning. Not really sure why someone would do this, why it's still in a tree from last hunting season and why the predators haven't taken it down.

Are you sure it was from last year? Maybe someone is doing some horn hunting
tagged out and going to town

Looks like the eyes are still in it, no hair slippage. I'd say recent, poachers probably.

I'm impressed with the knot tying capabilities. Looks like it might be a signal some other perverse activity is going on.......

Could've been in someone's freezer in hopes to take to a taxi, then never did so they cut the horns and hung the head for predators. Maybe, don't know?

For sure winter coat. No smell, eyeballs were almost nonexistent but still some meat and skin. Which could have been frozen from rifle session until march or April. This was 1.3 miles away from any road or house, through lots of woods so I would think someone wouldn't walk a head out that far just to zip tie it through the ear. I'm assuming legal kill, pack out the meat and antlers but can't figure out the ear zip tie. Trying to figure out if it would benefit the skinning process but why not tie the antlers to the tree, do your skinning and quartering and then untie antlers to cut them off.   Frankly, I have no idea and will most likely never know unless the doer posts up.

That's what I was thinking. I looks like it came out of someone's freezer to use for bait later. Is that a big deal, can you not do that for yotes?

Definitely one of the more bizarre things I have seen in the woods.  Im thinking some kind of northeast Washington voodoo ritual, possibly even pagan.  Are there any druids hiding out in the hills of Washington?  Lol
