Nile valley meats naches
« on: October 24, 2014, 05:34:22 AM »
Does Nile valley still let you hang your game there for a fee? I called but the number I found was not in service? Does anyone have the number? Also any experience with hanging meat at slims?

Dont think larry hangs meat, but squaw rock does. Its right up the road.
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

If you called the 653 # you wont get anything as they aren't in naches anymore. They're the second driveway on the right West of horse shoe bend if you are headed west.

I wouldn't let slimes handle no meat ever.  Maybe to the old guys when it used to be run by Americans, but for the past 10 years, It smells like east indian in there and isn't very sanitary.

That being said, give squaw rock a call as a backup.

My dad took a late season archery cow to them a few years back no complaints.  Price was fair and meatbwas cut well.

Thank You for the info, I think it was the  1355 number I called and they said they don't hang meat and said to call slims, they do it for $9 a day but don't think I will take it there after reading this and some other info I read about them.. I did call squaw rock and they do it for $15 a day. Is there anyone else around that will hang meat for a few days? somewhere near Naches or Yakima?

I'm thinking middle to end of next week, I would rather not worry about it and have it hanging somewhere cool dry safe and no bugs. I have a cow tag and am being optimistic...

If you are sweating 15 a day bone it out and cooler it.  You'll spend more in gas and ice chasing or as Bone said just hang it in camp

15 a day is not the end of the world as long as it is clean, has anyone used them before?

I used them a couple years ago when it was $5 a day. You basically just throw the animal on a pallet in a big walk-in. as long as your meat is covered im sure it would be fine. There were probably like 12 animals in there when i picked it up at the end of the week. Brought my cow in there this year and was very surprised by the price increase. Only kept her in there for 2 days to cool her off and then boned it out and put in coolers for the rest of the week.

I would rather have mine hagging in the open cool air than on a pallet on a locker floor.  :twocents:

I have taken my meat to Nile Valley for years, well I have taken him the meat I want made into Jalapeno-Cheese Pepperoni or Teriyaki Jerky! He seems to get very upset and bitchy when you don't take him the whole animal to cut up himself, I hate taking my meat to this man but he makes the best jerky! I have problems with him every year because its not whole. I know how to cut, grind and wrap so I am not going to spend $400.00 on him cutting up my meat. Its a love hate thing  :bash:
