Whidbey Island
« on: October 23, 2014, 01:13:37 PM »
Was wondering if anyone has hunted Whidbey Island this year. Particularly if anyone has hunted the public land in the Trillium Community Forest. We are headed up there this weekend to hopefully fill our doe tags. Was just curious how crowded it usually gets there, as it's a new spot on the island for us. Thanks in Advance!

Have not, but from past impressions my suggestion would be to get in early, get set up, and let folks push deer to you.

Ya that was kind of our plan. Just hoping that the earliest ferry will be early enough.

All the way from Naselle to hunt Whidbey public land?  Not a drive I'd bother making....    :chuckle:  You can always drive across the bridge at the north end and not worry about ferry schedules, although this is probably quite a bit farther.  Good luck.

The small portion of public land is not worth the time in my opinion especially during modern season. Lots of hunters in a small area.  Goodluck..

Well our family lives in Granite Falls so it's not too far from a typical visit. But we went up there and seen a couple fresh sets of tracks, one gut pile and a spike. We are hoping to go back up during the late hunt and hunt private land to hopefully fill the tags. We've already got two deer in the freezer so depending on how this elk season goes it would be nice to get the tags filled.

Good luck, I'd just drive to where you want and not screw with the ferry or their goofy schedules.
