Blacktail Success - Archery during Modern
«
on:
October 29, 2014, 10:53:54 AM »
I was fortunate enough to shoot a great Blacktail on Sunday. This was an archery kill during rifle season, in our woods at home, and I had all 5 of my girls in on the action.
I wasn’t really hunting, rather I was taking a walk in the woods between home projects, but with my bow in hand. I had noticed fresh rubs in the last week or so, and the girls had told me of a great buck they had seen a few days prior. It’s that time of year. We’d had some pretty stormy weather, so I wanted to take a look for any trees damaged by the wind. I took my bow on that walk, and to my great fortune I happened to see a buck stand from his bed. After several minutes and some careful maneuvering a shot opportunity opened up. It was a quick, clean kill, and I had all 5 girls with me on the recovery. They were great helpers, from the start of the blood trail right through till the last bit was boned out. What a great afternoon for our family. Hope you enjoy the pics.

That is an interesting 4x2 buck.
Your girls noticed the buck, did they? They are listening to their father, and you have great communication. I am happy for your family.

Nice buck, but even better to have shared that with your daughters. Appears you are raising them to be guides and packers. Love that. Wish I had 5 guides keeping track of bucks for me while I worked so I could shoot one in between household chores. Great story.
