today while deer hunting the wife and I came across this bull in the road. He had what looked like a broken left leg and looked very thin.

Was supposed to be a joke. I guess I have a lame sense of humor.

Sounds and looks like hoof rot...

I saw what you did there, and appreciated it.

Or a broken leg.

I would lean more towards hoof rot or something else other than a broken leg.  Whatever his problem is it affected his antler growth so he has had the problem quite a while.

Might be just broken but he's awfully sick looking... :dunno: Also very similar looking to the elk I shot with hoof rot in 2009.

I would lean more towards a broken leg. The whole leg just looked useless.

Probably got run ragged in the rut, lost lots of weight, broke his leg fighting and is now barely hanging on. If the guy that saw the bull saw a broken leg flopping around or something, I'm going with that. Hoof rot is possible, and maybe that's why he wasn't using the leg also I guess...
Was the leg flopping around broken or was he just not using it? Maybe his hoof is rotted off.
