What's so impressive? they chose not to file multiple charges against the poacher, the prosecution also dropped four other charges. Basically he got a slap on the wrist, a fine and loss of hunting privileges no jail time, no house arrest, no confication of weapons or vehicle used in the crime. If anything he might be one step closer to doing time, IF HE GETS CAUGHT AGAIN.

$30,240 just seems like a s#i!load of money compared to what I've seen in WA...Also a 36 year hunting ban seems like a s#i!load more than what I've seen in WA...
Like this? $10,000 in fines and restitution; six months in jail with work release; four years probation; 150 hours of community service; nationwide revocation of hunting, gun-owning privileges for three years; levied in 2005, against Michael James Gates, of Yakima, Wash., for killing a trophy-class bull elk and two mule deer while hunting illegally in southeast Washington in October 2002.

People need to realize it's not WDFW that is soft on poachers, it's the prosecutors and judges.
