What do you guys have on your lanyards?
« on: December 23, 2014, 04:11:07 PM »
I've seen a similar thread before but with the late season coming, ducks are getting really spooky in my area so I thought this thread might be good to get some suggestions on good sounding calls? Maybe some ideas for santa?

when birds get call shy I tend to use my drake whistle the most and that seems to get the best results. Just a little buzz here and there.

Drake whistle and some subtle hen calls with my old faithful primos original wench.
I hope when I die my wife doesn't sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them.

I have an S2 true honker, an RnT OSDC, and a Foiles timber rattler. I have never needed anything else.

If you're where they would like to be you do not need to worry about what make/model/style/brand of call would be best. Just be there, be well hidden and be still. If you're not where they would like to be .....be loud and you'll fit right in with today's "QuackerStackers","If it flies it dies" etc. OK,OK....sarcasm aside, vandeman17 and elkspert probably has the best advise for you.

For what it's worth....my lanyard rocks 2 S2 TrueHonkers, 2 RnT OSDC's, 2 Foiles TimberRattlers ( documented to have been tuned in the joint) and 41 WonderBread goose bands!  :chuckle:

I love neighborhood Christmas parties (and a week off from work).

7 for 9 today (other 2 were hits but, not hard....2 took a 2nd to bring to splash). Dog did OK. Never called at all.

I gotta go to bed....night all and Merry Christmas.

Duck commander drake whistle.. not really just a whistle.
also any good whistle for calling in widgeon. Lots and lots around now.
Widgeon are noisy birds. so if you get bored and wanna just make sounds... (cause we all know hunters that do that) widgeon whistling works well... being quiet is always good though.

Bust my Balls all you want. I don't have a problem killing birds.

If you sound like a duck, you don't need a whistle.

2 calls, one sucks.
A Duck Commander whistle.
A duck band
A feather
some dirt
blood
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Have an echo diamond wood timber and an echo meat hanger and a haydels whistle. I don't call that much though.

Matt Pierce, wood, duck calls and whistle. (Highly recommend by the way.)  And Foiles Strait meat honker goose call.

I apologize. You're right. I know you do well at shooting ducks. I've seen your posts and pictures over the years. I just get a little silly if I perceive buying/having high-end stuff is all that is needed to put ducks on the strap.

 Merry Christmas.

Sounds like the majority of the group likes the rich n tone calls? ive heard there good but never tried them. I was also thinking of the echo calls like their single reed wooden calls.

I started looking for certain sounds in calls. I tried probably 40 calls? The Daisy cutter fit me well, I have learned to run it well. It's more about practice then the call. Just cause we/they run RnT doesn't mean that's your best bet. I personally like acrylic calls over wood.

Everything with calls is a personal choice.
