Clamming update
« on: January 30, 2015, 09:38:11 PM »
Beautiful day at the beach today and on top of that, it was the best digging so far this winter. The clams were necking in the surf which made it easy to see the soakers. That meant I got my nicest limit of the year. Got one big clam that had a half inch of neck sticking out of the sand. Got my mom's limit in about 10 minutes and mine in another 10 minutes.

Sorry, no pictures as I left my camera in Idaho when I was hunting there over Thanksgiving. Just realized it recently and my friends mailed it off today. When I get it back, I'll get some good clamming pix and maybe post a video of how I clean them.

Quick question for anyone who might know- I'm trying to purchase a shellfish license online for tomorrow, do I need a 2014 license or a 2015 license? (If I get the annual license)

I just don't know of fishing licenses are the same as hunting licenses, where the 2014 license is good from April 1 to March 31st. Or do they start January 1st and go to December 31st?

I downloaded the fishing pamphlet and couldn't find the answer to that question anywhere.   :bash:

They have a annual razor clam license listed for $11.00.

So if I buy that it will be good until March 31st, correct?

Awesome dig today, same as Sitka said for yesterday. Awesome weather, 4 of us limited in about 20 min. Necks showing and so many hikes you couldn't dig fast enough. By far my best clamming trip. Hope those of you digging had just as good of luck!

Bobcat and his family met up with me and my family today for another dig and we also met up with some old friends from Alaska for a fun day at the beach. There were 11 of us all together and we all limited. Was nice meeting Amy and the girls Bob! Hope we can do it again in the not too distant future.

Sure was a good time and the weather couldn't have been better! Now the real work begins, cleaning 60 clams!
