Boy is he going to have a story for a lifetime to tell(possibly pay for).  I wonder at what point on that hill did he realize he was screwed?

This reminds me of a white Chevy truck that went part way up badger Mtn in the Tri Cities a while back and got stuck, (this is far worse) a local jeep club with the proper permission went up there and pulled it out safely and with minimal damage to the landscape.

I will see if I can find the article.

I see no humor in this, sorry.  Selfish joyrider tearing up crucial winter range while deer are at their lowest body condition of the year.  Granted, we had a short easy winter, but don't tell me that enters into the equation for a human pile of poo like this loser.  I hope he loses the jeep, gets fined for the ORV use, and has to pay damages/restitution to cover the cost of repairs.  For the "this coulda been me" guys, this is the kind of behavior that turns off the general public and builds support to shutting down further areas to motorized abuse.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

It's laughable that driving off the road "destroys winter range".   Animals tend to make trails on the range too.  Trails don't destroy the the range.  Thank God or father's took their jeeps off road before all the city people started making it illegal, as a result we now have trails that help us access the wild areas with our vehicles.        All the deer are not gonna die because of this guy.    The guy who did this is the largest victim of his own mistake.   No one else has been victimized

Show me the last time a mule deer buck buried itself up to it's axles on the side of a near cliff.
While I don't disagree with you that all of the deer are not going to die because of this....it's laughable to me that you think driving off road doesn't destroy winter range.  It's the damage to the ground and sage, etc along with stress to the deer at their most crucial point all probably in the name of greed and shed hunting. Orrr just being stupid with a new toy.

We live in their winter range. There are fences set up to keep them from getting to the good winter range.  I don't think driving or walking through is going to make a difference at all.     I call BS on the whole idea that elk and deer are so super sensative on winter range in early spring.  There are miles and miles of grassy hillsides.  I hate the idea of us systematically pushed out of the hills and woods and you guys support that by demonizing this retard and jumping on the    "oh but it's WINTER RANGE" bandwagon.           What a crock of nonsense

I guess I should go out and poach an elk. Not a bunch of them, just one.
Maybe I should shoot lead shot, not everyone, just me.
I suppose this summer I can pull pots at night for crab. So what if I end up with a few extra, its just me.

He knowingly broke the rules. He knowingly damaged property. Yes, its only one guy. Yes, in the grand scheme of things its only one patch of dirt. Yes, animals are minimally impacted by this one act.

I'd bet you $100 he has done this more than once. I'd bet you $100 he has torn up more ground than just this.

Rules, penalties, and fines are in place to punish the individual that breaks the law. In turn, the entire group is shown that one subset of outdoors recreation is not above the other. If this person is not held fully accountable then why should anyone else with a jeep, a quad, a dirtbike, be held accountable?

Punish him to the full extent of the law. Why? Because he deserves it.

I think this guy should be prosecuted to the fullest, but I don't think he needs to be nailed to the cross, so to speak. In life you either learn lessons, or you don't... In this case I think the lesson is getting shoved up his south side.

Let the guy get his rig out, fine him, and make him do 1200 hours community service with the Central Washington chapter of Mule Deer Foundation so he can fully understand why this issue is so important.

Some of you act like you won't be happy till this person is publicly humiliated, financially ruined, loses his vehicle, and goes to jail for the rest of his life, oh, and all of that will be after he restores the ground back to its virgin state.  If he has a wife and kid/s, what do you think, make em indentured servants to the State to do hard labor for the rest of their life, because hell, anyone who would marry such a low life POS could never be trusted not to make a mistake of their own and the kid/s would have his/her blood so, naturally, they could never be trusted to not make a mistake.

Geez, why not just form a lynch party, get a rope and string up this no good S.O.B. from the nearest tall tree.  And to make sure you all get your point across, you better do the lynching in a real public place, as to be a deterrent for any other low life scum that makes a mistake in judgement.

So, I'm curious, for those of you that have been so critical of this individuals decision making, what's it like to be "perfect"???
