Sounds like a rough ride home but the charter I know had 21 people and had like 230 bass and 30 lings sounds like a good start I only get a 5 day inshore forcast but will let you know Pete.

You guys can keep the cabs.....don't know why but I just don't care for eating them.

Side note: Where do you guys stay when making the trip down? We are heading down with D-Rock and the crew and could use a suggestion on lodging.

My wife doesn't like Cabezon as much as Lingcod, but I do.  I like the firmness of the meat.

I normally camp but when the wife goes she like the Islander.

There are plenty of hotel or motels around.  Also the Sundowner RV park has cabins for rent for decent price and you can fit more people .

We just stay at the Islander when we go.  It's easy, just roll out of your bunk and get on board.  You can leave your car in their parking lot all day.  Ask for the charterboat rate - I know I got a few bucks off when I did my tuna trips with Mark Coleman because of that.

Would anyone recommend fishing of the jetty? I've never been over there, and don't own a boat but Id like to try and fish over there. How would you rig up, and what bait would you use? I have a couple poles, med 6-12lb with 10 lb test and a heavy 10-20 lb with 20lb test). Am I ok using one of these? Or I also have my 12ft sturgeon pole.  :o

Pete check the Grays Harbor Bouy report you can see what the swell in the direction and if the swell is increasing or decreasing. If the wind is NW or especially West the south jetty can be dangerous if a break down happens make sure the boats running good.

Went to the Jetty this weekend to try my luck

Fished the afternoon tide on Sat. Bar Restrictions were in place and we were not allowed to go West of the 11 green can  :bash: So we fished the inside half of the jetty with no real success. Only caught one scoulpin and one under size ling  :dunno:

Then this morning we hit the low tide, picked up one undersize ling, again  :bash: :bash: :bash: and three black bass

Not exactly a productive day for 3 guys fishing, but I learned a lot more about fishing the jetty from a boat, so it was worth the trip  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

We were not the only ones doing bad, we only saw a hand full of fish being carried off the jetty and the other boats that were out there with us yesterday did just as well, or should I say, bad  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Didnt see one fish caught this morning while we were there from the jetty and when the rain started in, we heade in shortly after wards. Did not matter to much any ways, they put up a Bar Restriction shartly after we left.

And when the restrictions are on they are not kidding, we drifted about 200 yards past the #11 can on a drift and the CG was there to remind us of the restriction
