Its been fun following along silk.  Wenaha is a unit I want to get in someday.

Food is the most difficult part of my kit to get dialed in. Sounds like you got it figured out.

Great write up. Almost feels like we were right there with you! That blonde would have been awesome. Are you gonna get back out there at some point?

I do the jetboil, boiling water in a bag deal. I only cook dinner. Coffee can be made in minutes sitting on a glassing point, or skipped. I love the spuds to fill the tummy. Nice to go to sleep full. But everyone's different.
Cool that your getting your kit figured out. Seems it's a constantly evolving aspect of backpack hunting.

I was hoping for a blonde for you. Glad you had a good hunt. The Wenaha doesn't disappoint.

That's a great clambering. For me it's too much from a light rifle. I did it for years, but it was just never fun. I stepped down to 270wsm, and last year back up to 7mmwsm. A 168 grainier at 3k from a light rifle seems to be the line between fun and not fun for me. I still kinda miss the 140's at 3k though.
Hopefully the brake is the solution your looking for.

You get any postable pics of the blonde?

I'm still holding out waiting for the grip and grin. That much effort and desire, I can't see you staying away when you live so close.

Thought I did, but the heat waves destroyed it. Scott tried to clean up the one I had, but most of our focus at that point was whether to go after him or not.

Here it is if anyone can do better!

He's kind of in that middle lower section. Right on the edge of the shadow. He wasn't "yellow" either, he was full on platinum looking.

Awesome write up.
I also appreciate the notes on gear and food as that is always something I think about.
With regards to food, I have recently purchased a dehydrator and for dinners which I cook, I have started dehydrating my own meals.  Daunting at first but the end result can be amazing!  A serving of home made turkey chili mac weighs in at about 4 oz for me once dehydrated.
I have also found some "no cook" home made dehydrated lunches that are just add water to rehydrate for a bit in your pack before you get hungry.
Sounds like an awesome adventure and thanks for sharing!

Tried to clean it up, but its pretty low res the way you loaded it and I'm not real sure where in the photo your looking. Looks like might be the bear in the upper left, facing up and left, just left of the tall looking tree?

Nope of you follow it to the right and the first "lighter" patch you see, that's him.

It was my I phone through my spotter at around 2-3 miles by the crow fly. When I get back to my computer I'll see if I can get a more accurate distance.
