Wow ... what a chatty attitude  about elk hunting !  I couldn't even Imarine missing one year let alone 26. Your obviously  not willing to put your time into a quality hunt and that doesn't  mean a pack in hunt . Calling any bull crappy kinda pisses me off . All bulls are  magnificent  .ìf you have 12 points you should have done your homework and spent your time in the field. If your retired I suggest  you spend  some time scouting areas that you like. If you want less crowds I suggest trying to pull a Muzzy tag but may be to much effort ...if you want to at hunt with less people I suggest making a drive to Montana .there's a bunch of old grumpymen over there you might get along with.

Campmeat- I think if I were you I'd plan on buying a Weyerhaeuser access permit if you draw the multi season. You won't be able to use your ATV, but you can drive logging roads in your truck all day. Get the St. Helens permit or Pe Ell. Permits will be up for sale the last week of May.

 :yeah:

And I wouldn't waste a nickel's worth of gas hunting spikes on the eastside.

You're just jealous..... I haven't elk hunted because I had 2, $100,000 trucks to pay for, plus fuel, tires, upkeep, insurance, employees BS, just to name a few. I can go on.

Montana is out because I don't have 12 points there.

Scouting in those areas that everybody has mentioned, is a minimum of 6 + hours away, one way. Just because someone is retired, doesn't mean they can afford to go at the drop of a hat. I have been to everyone of those units that have been mentioned by the way.

Feel better now coachcw ?

Maybe put in for muzzy quality elk. There are areas that the few permit holder get to enter. Better chance if you cant get around very well

Why do you need the multi season if you're staying on the east side?

Lotsa places on the eastside from the Canadian Border to the Oregon Border..

Right. But I just don't get why the multi-season tag is required, when what you're really wanting to do is use up your 12 quality elk points. Unless I mis-understood? Are you really wanting to hunt archery, muzzleloader, and rifle seasons?

What I would do, if I was moving out of state and had 12 points to use, and knowing now that you don't want to go to the westside, I'd apply for relatively easy to draw muzzleloader permits in the Yakima area. Peaches Ridge would be okay and Observatory might be your best bet since it's more open to ATV use than some of the others.

I thought having a multi-season elk permit would be better since I have the 12 points. I might be totally wrong, don't know. From my way of thinking, I could get the permit, then apply for a certain unit, hopefully get drawn for the unit I think is the best and hunt all 3 weapons. Can you even do it that way, since I don't see anything about it either way in the regs.  :dunno:

12 elk pts and a dollar might get you a cup of coffee.

What you are looking for simply does not exist.  You might as well quit looking now...unless you want to pay big $$$ for private access.   :twocents:

You can but your limited to 2 options... So is that unit worth the extra $180 or whatever the elk amount is... Plus with limited mobility do you want to risk an archery hunt? I met a guy in colockum last year (archery) that drew quality bull and cow, he could shoot any elk he saw and with his limited mobility he got discouraged after 9 days of seeing squat and went home.

Idahohunter is right about the points and getting drawn.

Pretty much are all weapon specific. So if you get drawn for a multi season tag and put in for quality bull for rifle then you can only hunt it during the dates set and you can hunt with all 3 weapons. But if you were to put in for archery you would be able to hunt the dates set but could only hunt with a bow

If you draw a modern firearm permit, you may only use a modern firearm for the permit.

Yes that is true but you could hunt with a bow muzzy or rifle during the rifle season is what I was getting at

That's hard to hear.....such a shame. I'd sell my soul for that bull tag.
