Toyo R/T vs Toyo M/T tires

Alright fellas. I have been doin some research on tires lately. I have a 2013 double cab tacoma that I want to get some new wheels and tires for. I don't have plans to go mudding but I am a fan of just the way the m/t's look. Has anyone had any experience with them in Washington? Especially for snow and rain?  Has anyone gone the newer r/t route? They look good and are supposed to be in between the at and mt. I have toyo at's on my 4runner and they handle like a dream in snow. But I want something more aggressive and i want to know more about the r/t. Your opinions are appreciated.

I wasn't impressed with the Mts. Never did get to try them in the snow though. They didn't grab like I though they would and road hardened pretty fast. Haven't used the rts

Friend had the MT's on a full size ford. Sucked in the snow/ice and terrible on first of the season rains. You dead set on Toyo's?  Much better brands out there..IMO

I'm looking at those tires too.  I've got over 70,000 miles on an F-150 running H/T's.  Great tires.  They are good through the end of summer, but I'll be stepping up a notch or two in tread aggressiveness due to a change in where I'm driving.
Let us know what you think if you get them.

I have the M/T's on a full sized crew cab chevy with a 6" lift.  I love them and don't have to chain up when others do.   I do a lot of driving in the snow so they work great for me.  If I had lighter truck and didn't have the need for so much snow use I think I would look at the R/T's.

Looking forward to hearing what anyone that has tried the R/T's has to say.

What size are you looking to run?  Mud boggers are for mudding... M/Ts are for living in the Northwest.

You mean like compact snow right?  M/Ts aired down are the best tires for deep snow in my experience.

You dead set on Toyo's?  Much better brands out there..IMO

I just switched from MT's to RT's when I bought new ones after 70 on the MT's. Both work well in the snow but the RT's seem superior in the snow and especially the ice in my opinion. WAAAAAAAYYY quieter. The RT's are an upgrade in my experience. Not in the mud but everywhere else. I have 3/4 ton diesel dodge towing sleds and stuff and lots of snow time. Well, not this year..

I'm not dead set on Toyo's but I have had fantastic experiences with them on all my rides.  I am probably looking at 285/70 on 17.

I haven't ran anything Toyo on that small of a rig, maybe they work better on a lighter truck.  I'd look at the Cooper ST MAXX or some Nitto Trail Grapplers.  I can personally say that those Nitto Trail Grapplers have an awesome look and great M/T traction but are nice and quiet

When and where did you get the r/t's? I can't seem to find any in stock

I bought my r/t at les swab in Des Moines, they are much , much quieter and they did real well in the mud a couple weeks ago but haven't tried in the snow yet.  I did test them on ice last season in the mountains, they held me on a back road that was solid ice, and the road contoured to the bad side.  I really like them so far.

Had a set of mt on a duramax.... and my Tacoma came with a set of toyo mt.
Snow, ice, sand, they suck! Even with 5psi.
Plus is they look good, and last a long time.
