Brewster Sockeye Question

I am chasing the Skagit Sockeye and the ones in Baker Lake this year.  It takes 3 Brewster sockeye to equal one of the Skagit Sockeye.

Brewster is an early morning fishery, it will be hot fishing and weather. The bigger ones weigh 4 pounds at Brewster. Do they weigh up to 16 pounds? I doubt it seeing how the record is 10 pounds in WA.

There is a few sockeye in the pool, not sure if there is enough to make the trip this week. May wait a week. Banks is looking better and better for an out of town trip this week.

Brewster is an early morning fishery, it will be hot fishing and weather. The bigger ones weigh 4 pounds at Brewster. Do they weigh up to 16 pounds? I doubt it seeing how the record is 10 pounds in WA.

Many of the Sockeye we catch run 6-9lbs.

The ones I caught in the Brewster pool last year were about 1.5-2lbs it seemed.  Large Kokanee sized.

You're correct h2ofowlr. Many claim to catch 4 and 5 lb reds up here, but those people catch lots of 30 lb kings as well. I've never seen a 5 up here, and even a 4lber is nearly as rare as a 40 lb king. A solid 3.5 lb sockeye up here is a treat.  However, I've heard that the strain used in one of the new hatcheries just across the boarder had genetics of larger fish.  We shall see in the future.

The numbers look good. 2 weeks ago the paper said there has been more fish crossed Bonneville than the last huge year.

Just didn't feel right to go last year when so many folks were losing their homes in Brewster. Good chance my pink boat will be there in the next few weeks.   

I think you should stay home this year too because there is a big fire at Wenatchee.

Well there always seems to be alot of room and my boat doesn't take up much space!!
