Short starters
« on: July 25, 2015, 10:07:52 AM »
Recently I was at a hook and bullet store looking for ML supplies and noticed a lack of starters. I've always used one. Do folks not carry them much anymore?

Do in lines and the bullets they shoot preclude them? I've never loaded with a saboted bullet.  Thanks.

I am just going to answer from my perspective... I have short starters but about the only time I use one is for loading a PRB, everything else just the ram rod and a good loading/cleaning jag is all that I need.  I use Bull Shop lead conicals and Dan can size them to fit your bore - so I am able to start them through the crown with palm pressure - then a the gun rod - works well.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
