New Muzzy Question
« on: August 04, 2015, 06:11:12 PM »
Well I am ooking into buying my own muzzleloader next year. So far on my previous hunt and my hunt this year I have used/will be using my dad's .54 renegade. I would really like to get  a .50 of my own for next season and have been leaning towards the Knight Bighorn and  CVA Accura or Optima, I'd like to stay under $600 when it's all said and done.  I checked out the bighorn and optima today and they both felt  awesome, was curious if anyone could toss me their opinions on either of those or any other rifle you would recommend!  Thank you guys in advance- Ryan.

You know - you might look at a Knight Wolverine versus the Bighorn.  The Bighorn has the longer barrel and is a bit nose heavy.

The Wolverine is much better balanced and is just as accurate.  If you do make sure you specify that you want the Western Edition.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

I'll definitely give it a look! I will definitely make sure it's a western  edition, that be a bad move to forget that!

I've got a call optima v2, it's pretty impressive for the money, I'll probably buy another optima, with the new nitride coating, and thumb hole stock sometime this year.

Just started muzzy last season.  Borrowed my brothers CVA Optima V2, shot it one day before taking it in the field.  Very user friendly!  I took my first mulie buck the first morning out at 153 yds.  I was so impressed, I bought myself the exact same gun for Christmas  :)

Either way you go, you'll have a great muzzleloader. The Bighorn would have the edge in long range accuracy, but that would be 200+ yards. Anything within that range, it is really hard to beat the Optima for the price point and ease of cleaning. Any of the Optima's can be converted to be Northwest legal as well, which is a nice feature. We have done quite a few of them for customers.
