Righttttt, hadn't even thought of that. I thought it was limited more so to the Spokane area though?

Haven't seen any blue tongue in my areas. Running water helps a lot. Stagnet  water is where the nats that spread blue tongue dwell.

Now that this thread is fully off track, I've noticed quite a few between spokane and pullman. Coyotes seem to be fairly content and full. I don't do deer hunting, but I find myself wishing for some rain and frost.

I have about 2000 acres that we farm and run cows on. We have been having coyote problems lately as a lot of the ground was put in CRP 9 years ago. We typically pick off the yotes as we see them, but I want to try to lure them in. I have ordered a few Cartridge Calls, 2 .223 and 1 .308. I was hoping to be able to try my luck at luring them in some other way while I wait for them to arrive as I have no work till Wednesday.

Has anyone here had luck at bringing in yotes without a call? What did you use/do? I can probably find some old meet in the fridge I could let thaw out. Would they come to that?

Use deer and elk carcasses- they're free.
Some POS put poison on a deer carcass one year to kill coyotes. We took my moms obedience trained chocaolate lab(Tango)  out for a pheasent hunt, and he found the deer and started smelling, lcking on the carcass. I said, "Get away" when I realized what he was doing. An hour or so later our lab was acting wierd and eventually started to bear his teeth at my father and I and became EXTREMLY agressive. My father had to dispatch our family pet in the field that day. When we took Tango to the vet to get blood work done, the vet said, "you did him a favor, he was poisoned and would have attacked you two likely." Very sad day I will never forget. My father and I have not gone bird hunting ever since, and it took a large piece of happiness away from my father. He loved to train labs for bird hunting. So my recommendation is just go buy a call, and good luck to you. Coyotes arnt hard to call if your in the right area for them. However you choose to go, just be safe.

I'll be honest it sounds like long-term it might be worth investing in an electronic coyote call. You should use any old smelly meat or carcass you can get your hands on.

The best thing is going to be investing in an electronic coyote call -- there are many that would suit your needs for under $100. Look at the ICOtec GC300, Primos Dog Catcher, or Ruger iHunt.

Just a FYI....

A cow that was treated with penicillin (for example) and dies will not make good bait.  They won't touch her.

Use deer and elk carcasses- they're free.

Is it legal to relocate road kill to an alternate site?
