Gave the blind to youth hunter this morning, so I have been outside drinking coffee listening for shots all morning.  No shots being heard in Deer Park....very strange.  I think they all filled there belly last night. :dunno:

We're in Green Bluff and saw about 30 on the way up from Otis Orchards 0515ish. We had two does in front of us at shooting light. That's it though. We have heard eight shots so they're moving. Just not here.

Pretty quiet in my neck of the woods.  Seen about 10 deer, 2 forked horns. The big buck they were with last night is MIA.

I am sitting today out.  :bash:  My hunting partner (daughter) is concerned that if she gets a buck today she might be late for getting ready for homecoming. :chuckle:  She wants to do all of the work herself so we will wait until tomorrow.  I haven't heard any shots either and that is unusual for opening day.

I drew a late season mule deer tag so no opening day for me.  Kinda feels weird sitting here watching football and not hunting.

Whell, I have seen three orange people earlier this morning walk through the clearcut where I was hanging out at. Thought I would move to another larger clear cut, Seen a guy Running  :dunno:. Now Im listining to some dude just wasting ammo about 1-2 miles away and hoping a buck will come into the clear cut this evening. Just a typical blacktail hunt, Sit in a clearcut hoping your far enough away so other hunters wont get to where you are, see tons of sign, deer trails but dont see any animals at all except birds.  :bash:

There was not a shot fired that I heard until near the end of the day. Where I was I would be able to hear anything within a few miles. Did not see a single deer all day, except the cell phone pic my wife sent me from my backyard (2 pt.). There were people everywhere in Ashford. Saw about a dozen elk, including a little bull. not seeing so much as a doe all day sucks.
