I've been looking at the 1d MII as it has been down to about $1000 lately.  With my new shutter I'm sure my camera could get about $750.  Much more camera for the money too...

Sooperfly, I really like your rodeo pics.  Lots of emotions captured there!  My favorite is the bronc in mid air (Rodeo_37), and Rodeo_18

I just got to find the right Mark II and figure out how to hide $300 from the budget.  I'll ask Bone for pointers...   :chuckle:

I just listened to my lawyer.  He said don't spend money on the body, spend it on lens'.  In this case a lens.

There are definite tradeoffs with between a 1D Mark 2 and a 40D.  The 1DM2 has 8 megapixel instead of 10.  It is a 1.3x crop factor instead of 1.6x.  It is heavier and has a smaller LCD screen.  On the plus side, the 1DM2 is a pro body and is weather sealed.  The autofocus blows the doors off the 40D.  Plus, it is a few more bucks.  So which way do you go?  It's a toss up really.

You know what's funny, I rarely look at my lcd.  Sure, I'll scroll through the photos and check them out when bored but I never use it for critical focus or anything.  I can worry about that later on the computer screen.  All else equal, I would get the N version if I can here.
