E. WA Pheasant Opener 10/24/2015

Anyone have any BIG PLANS? I'll probably be staying close to home on a morning outing with my Springer, Walter "The Wonder Dog" and my wife.

For some reason I cannot wait for this pheasant opener! Last year I did t even hunt opening day but this year I'm chomping at the bit. Maybe it's the later start to the season!?!?

My dog and I are jacked and ready to go.  Heading out at 4:30 to Othello/ Royal city area.  Should get on a few birds at least. I am looking forward to this season, my little lab turned 5 a month ago and she is rearing to chase some birds.

Good luck to all

Tough day for us. Saw lots of birds but came home empty handed. Birds seemed very flighty for opening day. I think we hunted some spots that had been hit hard by deer hunters.

We put some miles on Saturday and today.  Saturday she put up 29 pheasants total and we ended up with 2 young roosters.  Those were the only two roosters I confirmed and two others could have been roosters but flushed on the other side of trees and I didn't get a look at them.

Today we got a real tail dragger, the only pheasant we saw and,  2 quail.  Still lots of cover up in the area so who knows what the rest of the season will bring.

Pretty darn happy and,  tired...I am out of shape!

Hunted the weekend between othello and moses at warden, was invited along to a club hunt my buddy belongs to,we saw 4 pheasants in two days, we saw 6 coyotes in two days and 5 small covies of quail. All in all I'd say the state has purt near mismanaged pheasants into the used to be category.I knew going into it not to expect much Othello has been only so so since the eradication of sugar beet farming and the invent of circle overhead irrigation.Almost all of my eastside pheasant hunting has taken place in the Palouse, a stop at the bios office in the area I hunt provided a better than expected report, I'm interested to see the reports from the palouse,The bios said the best population in 10 years, and in 04/05 it was pretty darned good over there.

Hunted Rosario area.  Limited by 0800.  My buddy completed his limit by early afternoon.  We put up/saw around 10 birds on opening day, only 1 was a hen.  We also put up three coveys of Huns.  Sunday we hunted from 7 till 3 and only bagged a rooster.  We saw over 20 but they were all very skittish and flushing well out ahead of our pointers.  Extremely dry conditions and deer hunters in the area.

Wow great work! May I ask where you were hunting? I am hoping to get out my young lab after some ringnecks.
