Congrats on a fine buck, good effort and excellent stalking paid off !
Been looking for a Hirshey post to respond to, . .  . . .
My son and I moose hunted north of Anchorage, and drove some of the roads bordering a big burn you and your fellow warriors were fighting this summer.  WOW, flying over the fire damaged areas really drove home the enormous acreage of that fire (Sockeye).

You deserve sooo much thanks and recognition for the difficult and dangerous job you are doing, thank you.

You might be pleased to know, the fireweed was already coming back! A welcome bit of fresh life in the landscape. Certainly you have your reasons for the choices you make. Seems that a deep appreciation of the planet and it's life must be in you somewhere near the top.
Again,  Thank you and your mates from all of the crews that came to Alaska and did so much.

Well thank you! It truly is a special job, but doesn't come without its sacrifices and frustrations. Getting paid to be outdoors and be a steward of the land is pretty special though.
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Wouldn't that make you a stewardess? :dunno:

Thanks all!

After much contemplation (seeing as I took a year off of posting about my Idaho adventures due to hard feelings)... I'll be posting both stories here shortly. Idaho was yet another soul-enriching experience, and I won't let one bad egg (or two) ruin a huge part of my enjoyment, which is writing and sharing my stories.
