First Kill, First Deer, First Buck
« on: October 23, 2015, 07:42:30 AM »
First Deer i've ever shot, 2nd day of the season.  Nice palmated Muley buck, the old timers in the area said they've never seen anything like it come out the area.  Unique deer.  Thick palmation of the antlers makes is more moose-like than anything.
heart shot at 220 yards, expired in less than 10 seconds.  Not bad for a rookie, right?

Yeah I'm hoping to. Trying to find a reputable taxi. I live in bothell. It won't fit in my freezer, sitting on ice right now, hoping to find one today.

I've not had anything done by Charlie but he is a member here and he has posted lots of his work on the forum. It looks to be top notch and close enough to you. I would look into Charlie for sure.

Nice buck.
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I know I'll take a bit of s**t for this one, already have from guys who've been hunting forever and haven't harvested a buck like this, but what can I say. At least I was ready and didn't miss 😜 "It's all downhill from here" is a common response I'm getting.

Yep...I think you spoiled yourself with that being a first deer. I like the weird ones, palmation, junk...that kind of stuff. I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

Nah.not downhill at all, you got the hardest one out of the way first, the palmated buck. Now you just have the big typical and the droptine non typical to hang on the wall   :chuckle:
